Paul Deeb, Principal

“Light was amongst my earliest childhood fascinations, music was my first love. As material for design they are, to me, curiously related. Both realms are technically rigorous and abstract. Both seek to reveal and influence us through the enhancement of our perceptions and the creative manipulation of our senses. Their attributes, when well executed are difficult to define and conversely, when neglected, are keenly felt.

Throughout the course of my professional life and since 1991 as the principal of this firm, I have never imposed limits upon the types of work which we will undertake. We pursue and execute large and small projects, residential and commercial design, consultation and engineering, with the same degree of enthusiasm."

Paul Deeb studied Music Composition and Acoustics at the Shenandoah Conservatory of Music.
Among his credits are designs for a number of international art pieces including Light Engine Nos. 11 & 12 installed in Dallas, the lighting of the Miami World Trade Center for Art Basel 2004 and the Sonus Lumina Portal exhibited at the 2005 COCIF Milan International Design Fair. In addition he has designed environmentally interactive landscape lighting for a five-acre residential setting in Northern Virginia and the illumination of numerous civic projects.
Paul is a lighting consultant to the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore, Maryland, a member of the Illumination Engineering Society of North America and an associate member of the American Institute of Architecture. He is a regular columnist and feature writer for Lighting Design and Application magazine and a frequent speaker on the subjects of lighting design and the materiality of light in artwork.
